The conference theme is Global Economy and the Rule of Law in a Changing World. This conference will be held in collaboration with the Israel Bar Association. We hope you will join us!

The WJA recognizes the challenges that the global community continues to face and will bring together an international network of Chief Justices, Judges, Attorneys, Law Professors, Government Officials and other legal professionals from around the world to discuss global economic and rule of law issues, as we continue to foster world peace through the rule of law. Georgian American University, Tbilisi, Georgia ♦ September 25, 2012

The World Jurist Association co-sponsored the Georgian Election Law Program, International Election Principles in the 21st Century in Tbilisi, Georgia at the Georgian-American University on September 25, 2012. This program  focused on international election principles, standards, rules and practices, and was sponsored by the Georgian Municipal Law Association with additional co-sponsorship by the Georgian American University (Faculty of Law), International Municipal Lawyers Association (IMLA), the ABA Standing Committee on Election Law, ABA Section of State and Local Government Law, ABA Section of Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice, and ABA Section of International Law. The WJA Partnered with the International Municipal Lawyers Association (IMLA) to welcome delegations from around the world for a conference in Washington, D.C. at the Omni Shoreham Hotel.

The WJA was formed, in 1963, in response to an international outcry for a free and open forum where judges, lawyers, law professors and other professionals from around the world could work cooperatively to raise public support for the institutions that govern and enforce the administration of international law.

As a non-governmental organization with special consultative status at the UN Economic and Social Council, the WJA finds an alternative method to reach the international community. We have worked closely with governments, non-governmental organizations and international associations to show how nations can constructively use, not forgo, their sovereignty through international law. Through our support, legal decision-makers from around the world work together as individuals, rather than representatives of a particular country, class or ideology.

With nearly 50 years of accomplishments, the WJA is one of the few organizations working with such a broad range of stakeholders to promote the Rule of Law as the path towards world peace. Our members include sitting and retired Chief Justices, judges, government officials, law professors, lawyers and students from over 140 different countries. We have National Presidents in 85 countries and our Board of Governors represents every continent and aspect of the legal profession. read more >>
